Since 2011, Green Standards has been working with some of the most recognizable brands on the planet to eliminate trips to landfills across the Pacific Northwest. When organizations relocate, renovate, or reduce their office footprint, surplus furniture often becomes a challenge and an afterthought. Through Green Standards’ office furniture donation program, those assets can become valuable resources for local non-profits.
Recent furniture donations from Fortune 50 tech clients are helping nonprofits across the Greater Seattle Area create more functional workspaces, strengthen community programs, and extend the life of quality office furniture.
By connecting surplus office assets with organizations that need them most, furniture donations create measurable environmental benefits while supporting communities.
Here are spotlights on two deserving non-profits that have benefitted from recent donations.
University of Puget Sound Gives Task Chairs a Second Life
“It’s wonderful to have this resource in our region, and especially as someone who is in sustainability and also manages waste and donations myself, just having someone to go that extra mile to make sure that items are in good condition and eligible for donation makes all the difference for us.”

Another nonprofit recipient was the Kubota Garden Foundation, the organization that supports and helps preserve one of Seattle’s most beloved public gardens.
Working in partnership with the City of Seattle, the Foundation helps maintain and enhance Kubota Garden while supporting volunteer programs, education initiatives, and community engagement opportunities. Furniture donated through Green Standards provided practical workspace solutions for Foundation staff and volunteers, helping improve operations without requiring significant capital investment.
For many nonprofits, access to quality office furniture can make a meaningful difference. Furniture donations allow organizations to redirect funding toward programming, community services, and long-term impact rather than facility expenses.
Furniture Donations Benefit the Kubota Garden Foundation
“We’re really appreciative to Green Standards for delivering some new desks and chairs for our office. It’s going to mean a lot to our team to upgrade from our cobbled together hand me downs to a much nicer setup. Especially for one of our employees who’s disabled — having adjustable desks is going to make her work a lot easier.”

Furniture Donations Create Local Impact
Across Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, and the Puget Sound region, nonprofit organizations continue to face growing demands with limited resources.
Office furniture donations help bridge that gap by providing practical assets that support day-to-day operations. Whether furnishing offices, volunteer workspaces, meeting rooms, or community facilities, donated furniture allows organizations to do more with the resources they have.
For corporate real estate teams, facilities managers, and sustainability leaders, furniture donations are also an opportunity to advance ESG goals while making a direct investment in local communities.
To date, our work in Seattle and the Puget Sound region has diverted nearly 6,500 tons of furniture from landfill while making in-kind donations of office furniture to more than 500 non-profits and community organizations.
