Spotlight: Educare In Silicon Valley Improves Their Quality Of Education

For Lisa Kaufman, Executive Director at Educare of California at Silicon Valley, every decision she and her staff make is about improving the quality of the education they provide their students. So when she had the opportunity to furnish the new Educare campus at Silicon Valley with donated office furniture and equipment, she immediately realized the benefits the donation would have on her students.

It’s all about the kids, and this is going to help us better support our kids, and those outside in the local community. This donation makes a huge difference!

In collaboration with Green Standards, Adobe provided Educare with more than 150 pieces of excess office equipment removed from its San Jose offices.  The donated items included whiteboards, conference tables, fridges, chairs and a washer and dryer. “The quality of the items is something we are really grateful for,” said Lisa. “We’re just so delighted to have it and we really appreciate knowing this service is out there.”

All Educare institutions focus on early learning (between the ages of 0-5) as a way to prevent the achievement gap from taking root in the early years of a child’s life. There are 21 locations  spread across America, and Educare of Silicon Valley is the first of its kind in California.  The school, which has been five and a half years in the making, was strategically placed in one of San Jose’s poorer neighborhoods in an effort to help kids who need it the most.

The donation also represents a huge cost-savings for Educare, which means more money for the students and the programs. “We prefer to take any money and put it towards the kids,” said Lisa. “The money we saved through this donation is going right into the building, the services and the environment, which will benefit them immensely.”

Adobe’s ongoing work with Green Standards is another example of what businesses can do to re-imagine their office waste. Adobe’s substantial donation exemplifies their commitment to improving their community and the environment by keeping their surplus office assets out of the landfill.
