Green Standards Wins CoreNet Global Innovator’s Award

 – CoreNet Global Recognizes Green Standards As Winner of 2020 Global Innovator’s Award for Professional Excellence and Sustainable Leadership in Corporate Real Estate.

Green Standards competed with winners and finalists in each CoreNet Global Awards category and won the 2020 H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award presented virtually at the 2020 CoreNet Global Virtual Summit.

Toronto (Oct 30th, 2020) – CoreNet Global, the leading professional association for corporate real estate, workplace and economic development professionals, has announced Green Standards Ltd (GSL) as the winner of its most coveted award, the H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award (GIA). Sponsored by Gensler, the annual global best practice awards are presented each year to leading organizations that demonstrate best-in-class practices in advancing thought leadership in corporate real estate.

Green Standards’ unique approach to corporate asset management provides businesses with a responsible cost-effective way to redistribute surplus office furniture and equipment. Now working with 22 Fortune 100 companies, GSL has managed workplace decommission efforts on several of the largest corporate real estate portfolio modernizations and refreshes in history – often to the order of millions of square feet and tens of thousands of employees’ worth of furniture and equipment.

This innovative offering gives corporations the ability to turn a conventionally wasteful process into an opportunity that helps them exceed the goals established in their various CSR reporting mandates.

To date, Green Standards’ circular economy-inspired office solution has diverted more than 73 thousand tons of office furniture and equipment from landfills (a 98.6% diversion rate) and made in-kind donations of more than $30 million to thousands of non-profits across North America.

“Green Standards is delivering the kind of results-oriented innovation that the H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award is intended to recognize,” Tim Venable, Senior VP of Research and Content Development at CoreNet Global said. “Its approach is generating value for businesses, communities and the environment.”

What began as a service that coordinated between corporations with surplus office furniture and non-profits, has evolved into a solution that includes corporate project management, multi-channel asset redistribution, non-profit engagement, storytelling (PR), and industry-leading environmental reporting.

Judges drawn from senior leaders in the association selected winners in the Professional Excellence and Sustainable Leadership categories. These winners and finalists competed virtually in July for the prestigious Global Innovators Award, with the winner being announced at the CoreNet Global Virtual Summit in October.

As companies have seen a need to be more transparent and responsible with their decommission projects, we’ve seen the demand for our process grow significantly.
