Green Standards Ranks on Growth 500 List for 3rd Straight Year

– Canadian Business unveils the annual list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies –

Toronto (September 12, 2019) Green Standards makes the annual Growth 500 list for the 3rd straight year among Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies. Produced by Canada’s premier business and current affairs media brands, the definitive ranking was announced today by Canadian Business and Maclean’s.  The Growth 500 ranks Canadian businesses on five-year revenue growth. Our circular economy-inspired office solution and other Growth 500 winners are profiled in a special print issue of Canadian Business published with Maclean’s magazine later this month and online at CanadianBusiness.com and Growth500.ca.

Green Standards made the 2019 Growth 500 list and placed #263 of 500 with a five-year revenue growth of 337%. Green Standards’ team of environmental stewards provides businesses with a responsible, cost-effective way to redistribute surplus office furniture and equipment. Through a managed program of asset resale, recycling, and donation, we’re able to generate measurable value for companies and local communities.

In our most impactful year to date, 2018 saw Green Standards divert more than 10,000 tons of office furniture and equipment from landfill while making in-kind donations worth more than $4.6M to more than 1,000 non-profits in Canada and the US.

In 2019, GSL is trending to meet last year’s tons diverted totals and are on track to surpass 2018 impact milestones in a number of measurable categories.

“With another milestone year of impact, we’re excited to be back on the coveted list for the 3rd straight year, while continuing to help global companies do the right thing and demonstrate it.”

Richard Beaumont

Vice President, Strategic Accounts

Green Standards

The circular economy story that we provide to our clients is one of the main reasons we’ve been winning global sustainability/CSR awards while being recognized by PROFIT500 in 2017 and Growth 500 in 2018. In both years, we ranked among the top 150 of 500 Canadian companies with last year’s 5-year revenue growth of 509%.

The companies on the 2019 Growth 500 are truly remarkable. Demonstrating foresight, innovation and smart management, their stories serve as a primer for how to build a successful entrepreneurial business today. As we celebrate over 30 years of the Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies program, it’s encouraging to see that entrepreneurship is healthier than ever in this country.

Beth Fraser, Growth 500’s Program Manager

Green Standards’ team lead the sustainable decommissions of 10 million square feet of office space annually, reducing CO2e by more than 172,000 metric tons on corporate real estate projects. Since 2009, GSL has diverted more than 56 thousand tons of furniture waste from landfill and recently surpassed $28 million worth of in-kind donations to over 5,000 non-profits and community partners across North America.
