With a generous donation of tables, desks and chairs from Oracle, Excelsior Wellness in Spokane, Wash., has seen a tremendous improvement to the offices and conference rooms that host meetings with community partners, potential donors and volunteers. As with many active non-profits, budgeting for their office interiors, even when necessary, can be hard to justify.
“It’s difficult to spend on things other than our programs,” said Rosen. “There are so many important programs that our youth need, like therapy, educational tools, and vocational training, that we can hardly invest in our workspace. It makes Oracle’s donation really important to us.”
Oracle’s project lead too was pleased to have minimized potential waste while benefiting numerous organizations like Excelsior.

“Green Standards helped us achieve our environmental goal and at the same time coordinated donations to these local organizations,” said a senior manager from Oracle. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone involved.”
Excelsior also plans to use chairs and desks to offer more seating and study space for its youth library.
Excelsior strives for sustainable development for teens at risk
After 41 years, Excelsior Youth Center has proven to be a leader in helping high-risk adolescent girls and their families achieve lifelong success and wellness. Excelsior’s comprehensive programming is designed to treat the whole child within the context of her family to support permanency and sustainable growth. Over the years, Excelsior has helped over 4,000 girls accomplish their treatment goals.
Excelsior provides a safe and secure environment to young women who have not been successful in other treatment programs. Our experienced staff includes a multi-disciplinary team of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and special education teachers well-practiced in medical and mental health to address a variety of situations and needs.
Staff are trained to address mental health and behavioral episodes preventively as well as safely respond to crisis situations. In addition to our “staff-secure” residential treatment program, we provide safety planning for girls who receive services through our Community Based Services program.
