Green Standards has worked on several of the largest corporate decommission projects in recent history through partnerships with more than a dozen of Pacific Northwest’s Fortune 500 companies. To date, our work in The Seattle and Puget Sound region has diverted nearly 6,500 tons of furniture from landfill while making in-kind donations of furniture, fixtures, equipment and supplies to 500+ non-profits and community organizations there.

1. Expedia Group

Expedia Group
Results
As a result of this partnership, Expedia Group has diverted 928 tons of furniture from landfill, eliminating a total of 2,611 tons of CO2e emissions. In total, 100% of Expedia Group’s furniture and equipment was kept out of landfills, benefitting over 100 local non-profit organizations.
With plans for office consolidation internationally, Expedia Group began deploying Green Standards’ program across Europe in 2020, with notable projects in the UK, Spain, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, and Denmark.

2. Microsoft
Results
Since 2018, Green Standards work with Microsoft has included the sustainable decommissioning of of 1.2 million square feet and 6,000 employees worth of furnishings across multiple buildings at their corporate headquarters campus in Redmond. Our projects together have diverted more than 1,000 tons of surplus FF&E from landfill while making in-kind donations of nearly $500,000 to 110 non-profits in the region.

3. F5
Results
F5, a multi-cloud application security and delivery company that enables its customers to bring extraordinary digital experiences to life, has partnered with Green Standards to keep used office furniture from clogging landfills. Since 2015, F5 has been working with Green Standards to allocate large quantities of office furniture to Green Standards’ network of non-profits in the Pacific Northwest. So far nearly 60 non-profits have received $198,000 worth of in-kind donations from our work together.
F5 and Green Standards have completed corporate decommission projects in Seattle, Bellevue, Kent, Oakbrook Terrace in Washington State, and substantial projects in San Jose, Santa Clara, and New York. To date, our cumulative projects have maintained a 98.4% landfill diversion rate with 566 tons diverted from landfill.
