Challenge
As an industry-leading cloud customer experience orchestration company, Genesys has both a truly global footprint and an ambitious, target-driven ESG program. The company supports over 7,000 customers in more than 100 countries, while regularly changing and enhancing its workplaces. As a result, Genesys needed an enterprise-level solution for office decommissioning. At the same time, the company’s sustainability goals demanded zero waste to landfill. Additionally, Genesys uses a unique social impact metric to qualify the company’s actions in how they are able to positively impact people’s lives. Ideally, these needs could all be met in a turnkey, cost-competitive way.
Solution
The relationship between Green Standards and Genesys began with a project in a 40,000-square foot space in Indianapolis in December 2021, and has evolved into a partnership across three continents and eight cities.
For each of these projects, Green Standards has identified and provided resources for site-specific needs, including managing the dismantling, removal, and relocation of all excess furniture, fixtures, and equipment, coordinating movers, buyers, local non-profits, and specialized recyclers. Through a customized combination of resale, in-kind donations, and strategic recycling, Green Standards helped Genesys to achieve over 98% landfill diversion for the Indianapolis project.
In addition to in-depth environmental and social impact documentation, Green Standards delivered custom calculations of Lives Positively Impacted to align with Genesys’ ESG reporting. Genesys is passionate about reaching its goal to positively impact 1,000,000 lives by 2030, and its employees share this passion. Two ways they work toward this goal are by giving back to communities through the causes that its employees care about most and using technology for good. Partnering with Green Standards helps Genesys achieve this goal.
“Together, we’re committed to embedding sustainability into the core of our business to be a
catalyst for the change we hope to see in the world.”

“The large desks provided allow teachers to hold small group teaching and interventions in one place. All of the materials and supplies a teacher needs can be at arm’s length, allowing our teachers to monitor the rest of the class while helping a group of students. The storage space in the desks help us keep personal valuables nearby in a secure area.”
